Change Your Emirates ID Registered Mobile Number

Oct 6, 2025 | Human Resources

To change your Emirates ID mobile number, submit an update through ICP Smart Services, the UAEICP app, or in person at an ICP centre. You’ll verify an OTP sent to the new UAE number, pay the service fee, and receive a reference ID. You can later confirm the update online.

Why Update Your Emirates ID Mobile Number

Your Emirates ID is tied to your mobile number for OTPs, delivery alerts, and official notifications. If you change SIMs or providers, update your number to:

  • Receive login and transaction OTP codes.

  • Get SMS updates about card printing, dispatch, and delivery.

  • Avoid failed logins, missed notices, and service delays.

After You Submit: Timelines, Confirmations and How to Verify

  • Processing time: Typically 2–7 working days online; in-person can be faster.

  • Confirmations: You’ll receive SMS/email when the record updates.

  • Verify: Log back into ICP/UAEICP or use the ID Card Status tool to confirm the change is active.

Troubleshooting: OTPs, File Numbers and Login Issues

Even if the update process is straightforward, common errors can cause frustration. Here’s how to fix them:

No OTP Received

Possible causes: SIM not active in the UAE, temporary network issues, Do Not Disturb settings.

What to do:

  • Restart your phone or toggle airplane mode.
  • Make sure your SIM has credit or an active plan.
  • Try resending the OTP after a few minutes.
  • If still not received, submit the request in person at an ICP centre or typing centre.

OTP Sent to Old Number

Why this happens: If you try to change the number without logging in first, the system uses the previously registered number.

Fix:

  • Log into ICP Smart Services or UAEICP app before starting.
  • Go to Quick Services → Data Update while signed in — this workflow sends OTPs to your new number instead.

File / Record Not Found

Possible causes: Typos in Emirates ID number, wrong file number, mismatched residency details.

What to do:

  • Enter details exactly as shown on your residency visa page.
  • Double-check spaces, dashes, and digits in your Emirates ID.
  • If the error persists, call ICP on 600 522 222 or visit a Customer Happiness Centre.

Payment Failed

Possible causes: Card restrictions, ICP portal timeout, or channel-specific issues.

What to do:

  • Retry with another card or a different browser/device.
  • Try during off-peak hours (late evenings often process faster).
  • If it fails again, switch channels: use the UAEICP app or complete the update at a typing centre / ICP centre.
